13 Worst Video Game Industry Decisions Of 2017 (So Far)
2. Everything That Happened To Mass Effect: Andromeda
Where to even begin? Mass Effect: Andromeda released amid a tidal wave of hype...which was quickly dampened when reviews began pouring in. Though the combat was a significant improvement and the multiplayer was awesome, the core campaign was hampered by repetitive gameplay mechanics and some atrocious facial animations that quickly made the game a laughing stock among fans.
Post-release, reports emerged that the game's production was Hell, with development restarting numerous times and the bulk of the final game being cobbled together in just 18 months, while BioWare Montreal's team struggled to make the Frostbite engine mesh with the game's array of RPG mechanics.
Fans were naturally disappointed by the end product, and with reports that BioWare has placed the Mass Effect series on long-term hiatus as a result, it seems like the entire game's development was a giant trainwreck of mistakes and mismanagement.
