13 Worst Video Game Industry Decisions Of 2017 (So Far)

1. Nintendo Discontinues The NES Classic

The NES Classic was one of last Christmas' hottest must-have items, with Nintendo being summarily raked over the coals for not providing anywhere near enough stock, creating a huge price-gouging culture on sites such as eBay.

Things got even weirder, then, when Nintendo stopped production of the NES Classic a few months ago after having shipped 2.3 million units. Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime issued an hilariously tone-deaf statement that "[Nintendo doesn’t] have unlimited resources", which only seemed to indicate that Nintendo doesn't like making money all that much.

Seriously, this thing would've sold even more if it was readily available, yet Nintendo underestimated demand, refused to increase manufacturing in a timely manner, and then pulled the trigger on it prematurely.

With the recent announcement of the SNES Classic on the way, Nintendo has promised they will manufacture significantly more units to keep up with demand. Fingers crossed, but like so many of Nintendo's business decisions, the NES Classic's stock shortage made them look stubborn, behind the times and lacking basic business sense.
