14 Beloved Video Games That Criminally Never Got Sequels
2. Lost Odyssey
One of the few expansive titles to offer multiple discs in the last generation, Lost Odyssey was one of the first to be crafted by original Final Fantasy-creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, with every inch feeling like the birthing of a new universe, and although it didn't catch on this is one of those hidden gems it's easy to get back into if you're an RPG fan. Playing as an ancient being with a bit of a memory problem, it sets up a series of interactions that sees your immortal character interact with different NPCs at various stages of their life, and with old-school turn-based combat it's as traditional as they come. Extra damage can even be done if you nail a certain prompt while attacking just like Final Fantasy VIII, and with the legendary talents of Nobuo Uetmatsu - the man responsible for Final Fantasy sounding the way it does - Lost Odyssey is a hidden gem of the shiniest kind. Final Fantasy XV seems to be drawing some praise as the first positive-looking sequel in years, but going off how elastic the parameters of that franchise are now, how about Square Enix finally iterate on one of the other properties that's never had a bad word said against it?
