14 Beloved Video Games That Criminally Never Got Sequels
3. Dishonoured
Now this one may draw a few confused looks as there's been rumblings on the horizon of a Dishonoured sequel, and so if that has come to pass between the time of writing and reading, then we do apologise. Dishonoured was developed by relatively unknown studio Arkane Studios, although it actually turned out to be one of many peoples' Games of the Year. Being a brilliant hybrid of first-person stealth and a steampunk aesthetic, player-character Corvo was a supernatural assassin, which gave you a plethora of intertwining abilities including teleportation, slowing down time and possession of humans and animals. The pièce de résistance came when you combined them to freeze an enemy's bullet in mid-air, only to control and walk them into its path and restore time - watching them take their own life with the shot intended for you. Throughout this year we've seen a number of teases and whisperings alluding to a sequel, although with each consecutive turn of the rumour mill nothing has emerged. From E3 to Gamescom, initially an inside source claimed part two was in the works - subtitled 'Darkness of Tyvia'. It was to be unveiled at the latter although never materialised, putting everyone on the back-foot and placing the followup in the same realm as Half Life 3, Fallout 4 and The Last Guardian i.e. we hope they're out there somewhere, but there's nothing but hearsay and rumours to go on for now.
