14 Biggest WTF Gaming Moments Of 2014

8. The Sims 4 Launches With Less Features Than Previous Games

The Moment: Maxis' long-hyped The Sims 4 reminded gamers that EA are still a terrible company by cutting an enormous amount of content from the game that was already available in previous titles. Angry fans came up with a comprehensive list of 89 features either cut completely or severely reduced in The Sims 4, including swimming pools, toddlers and countless customisation options. To their credit, EA did restore some of these features in free DLC updates after severe complaints, but it just wasn't enough to supplement a game that still felt pretty empty. Why It's WTF: The whole fun of The Sims series is in having the freedom to do what you want, and so by scaling back enjoyable features from previous games, EA shot themselves in the foot from the outset. Considering that the company is happy to trot out DLC for the game at $20 a pop, the whole enterprise reeks of horrible value for money. Thankfully there was some justice, however, as the game's sales tanked markedly compared to the previous titles.
