14 Brutally Hard PS4 & Xbox One Games You Can't Handle
6. Titan Souls
The reason Titan Souls just didn't catch on with a wider audience comes down to some absolutely infuriating checkpoint placement - which is to say, there almost isn't any.
Its structure is that of a boss rush; each one coming with a unique puzzle and way to bring them down, however you always die in one hit, and have but one arrow (which you can retrieve) to figure it out. Immediately you're going to fail a few hundred times before getting it right, but Titan Souls wants you to walk all the way back to the boss area, every.single.time.
Remember the long treks from the temple to the Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus?
Imagine doing them after being killed only a few seconds into any fight. It may be a gorgeous game with an impeccable soundtrack, but for an experience built on trial and error, instead ends up being mentally taxing in the worst way possible.
