14 Fan-Made Sonic Games That Succeed Where Sega Failed

5. Sonic GDK

Sonic GDK isn't much of a game. In fact, it's far more than just a game- GDK stands for Game Development Kit. The Sonic GDK is a set of tools for Unreal Engine 3, and allows independent developers to quickly and easily build their own games in the style of Sonic Adventure. Complete with homing jump and sound effects straight from the Dreamcast original.

Green Hill Paradise, one of the most popular projects born from the Sonic GDK, blew minds four years ago, making major gaming news headlines. Now, it's only gotten more accurate, allowing anyone with experience in the Unreal engine to perfectly replicate the homing jump style of the Sonic Adventure games.

The Sonic GDK, along with Green Hill Paradise Act 2 and multiple other games created in the engine, can all be downloaded from the official IndieDB link.
