14 Insane E3 2016 Announcements That Would Shock The World
1. Resident Evil 7 Is Actually A Reboot
The Announcement: Capcom have long since confirmed that they are at work on the next core Resident Evil game, which in fact turns out to be a reboot rather than yet another sequel.
How Likely Is It?: Pretty likely. With Resident Evil 6 dropping in 2012, there's no doubt we will definitely see RE7 at E3, but what about the nature of it? Capcom have expressed a desire to rekindle the series after the underwhelming response to RE6, and a radical shift back towards survival horror would be a fine way to do that.
Whether or not a RE reboot would bin all of the franchise icons and start totally anew is a whole other question, but throwing out the hyper-convoluted, repetitive plots we're currently stuck with isn't a bad idea at all. We'll go with a cautious yes.
