14 Mind-Blowing Video Game Fan Theories That Change Everything
7. The Animus Conversations Don't Really Happen - Assassin's Creed
Speaking of Assassin's Creed, did you ever wonder just how the hell all those Animus conversations actually work?
Like, in real time, you go from wiping out your target (sometimes from far away with a bullet or throwing knife), only to start having a lengthy conversation as they're dying in your arms - regardless of the fact there are often tons of guards around, baying for your blood.
To remedy that, a theory goes that it's not only Desmond/the user's memories being analysed by the Animus, but those he/they kill too, which is to say, by having Altair/Ezio/Connor etc. end a life, that person's memories are assimilated into the Animus, and the conversations appear 'out of time'.
Or rather, they never happened at all; neither back in their respective time period, nor played out in the present, simply representing the combination of two minds interfacing with one another.
