For the first half of the decade, it felt like the relentless release of Assassin's Creed games meant that WE were in Ubisoft's stab-happy universe, never mind their games, however an uber-cool theory ties the series' Eagle Vision mechanic into a ton of other titles.

Remember how before Assassin's Creed, such 'vision modes' weren't a staple of the industry? Now they're in everything from Hitman to The Witcher 3, but what if there's a story-related reason?

What if - in Ubisoft's games in particular - characters like Sam Fisher, the Prince, Far Cry's Jason/Ajay and Watch Dogs' Aiden Pearce/Marcus Holloway are merely descendants of Templars and Assassins?

After all, we know the world of Assassin's Creed is our own, because Ubisoft themselves are the company working with Abstergo in AC: Black Flag. Extrapolate that out and include the various easter eggs in their games that connect the dots, and you've got one massive shared universe, all starting with the original Assassin's Creed.

You could easily make the case for someone like Sam Fisher's stealthy abilities coming from a blueprint passed down from the Assassins themselves.
