6. GUN Is Accused Of Racism Against American Indians

Activision inadvertently landed itself in scolding hot water when it released the multi-generational GUN.

Accused by The Association for American Indian development for glorifying the violence their ancestors faced during the days of the Old West, they called on the publisher to pull the game from sale until it all offensive content had been culled.

Activision eventually apologised for any offence Neversoft's third-person shooter may have caused, but declined to recall it, instead issuing a statement, saying:

"Activision does not condone or advocate any of the atrocities that occurred in the American West during the 1800s. Gun was designed to reflect the harshness of life on the American frontier at that time."

Distasteful? Possibly. Racist? Hardly.
