5. BioShock Gets Flak For Its Little Sisters
Not quite the pro-child killing simulator that many had decided BioShock was all about shortly after the Little Sisters were revealed, 2K Games' universally lauded work of fiction did in fact let you commit such an act, but hardly encouraged it.
Not that you would have even known that you were committing such a crime: choosing to harvest the infants for precious ADAM resulted in a blacked out screen; a few unsettling sounds later, and the game faded back into view with nothing left but a giant, writhing slug staring you in the face.
Sure, one can criticise Ken Levine for being risque for the sake of it, but the crucial point is not to look at the facts in a vacuum. In context, the presence of the Little Sisters plays directly into the fundamental ideas of altruism and selfishness that the world of Rapture is all about.
