14 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2018 (So Far)

9. Mario Tennis Aces

Mario Tennis Aces is a fun game, yes, but it absolutely had the potential to be so much more. The main problem with the game is the depressing lack of quality content on offer, because online tournaments can only justify a AAA price tag so much.

The main sticking point is the Adventure Mode campaign, an exercise in frustration and tedium that forces the player through a litany of clumsy challenge levels and increasingly cheap wave-based boss fights. That Blooper fight on the ship is straight bulls***.

There's not much sense of enjoyment to derive from it, leaving a pretty basic suite of tennis modes actually worth playing. For the price, it's just not enough, especially when some of those campaign challenge modes could've so easily been converted into party mode games for online or local play.

It's not a bad game, but man, it could've been so, so much better with a few easy fixes.
