8. Ark: Survival Evolved/ Survival Of The Fittest

A regular staple of the Xbox One and Steam's early access preview programs, Ark: Survival Evolved has managed to generate its own dedicated fanbase that's been involved since day one.

The game was initially pegged as a lone survivor-type affair, as you buddy up with (or fight) a number of dinosaurs and creatures on an otherwise deserted island. Now, game mode Survival of the Fittest has been siphoned off and looks to take these traits and expand everything out into a more factional, war-like affair.

In both games, instead of just worrying about staying alive, you'll ride dinosaurs (both ground and flying), command them in battle, rank up and amass crafting components to stand a better chance to defeat your opponent. You can actually play the game for free right now on both Steam and Xbox One, but a full console release (including PS4) is penciled in for August 19th - it's just a case of seeing what 'version' we eventually get.
