It's been a hell of a long time coming, but finally the eagerly-anticipated game about a boy and his dog-cat-bird friend who looks like a failed applicant for the role of Falkor in The Neverending Story is upon us.

The game, from the makers of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus is likely to be a poignant affair, as the boy and Trico (the aforementioned hybrid creature) traverse a surreal world filled with traps, enemies and, it would seem, a lot of huge chasms plummetting into endless fog.

Given the previous games from the same developer, The Last Guardian will be as meditative as it is challenging, and one of the most unique new IPs to be coming to consoles this generation.
