Hero-based online shooters are the 'in' thing of 2016, and Overwatch has wasted no time in establishing itself as the one to beat (at the expense of poor old Battleborn).

But there's another contender on the horizon. It's called Lawbreakers, and it has the great Cliff Bleszinski (Unreal, Gears of War) at the helm. A little darker in tone to the breakfast-show Overwatch, Lawbreakers could well be the successor to Quake III and Unreal Tournament that 90s veterans have been waiting for

It's fast-paced, high-flying, and features unique heroes (or, more fittingly, anti-heroes), designed in that MOBA-like rock-paper-scissors way to complement and counteract each other.

Lawbreakers is a little dirtier and a little grungier than its rivals, and should speak to the many who don't quite feel the friendly tone of the current competition
