14 Most Hotly-Anticipated Video Games Still To Come In 2016
9. Final Fantasy XV
Oh, go on then. Despite the iconic JRPG being an acquired taste, its importance in the games industry can't be denied, and the oddly contemporary, realistic tone of the fifteenth entry is sure to turn some heads that have ignored the series until now.
Final Fantasy XV feels darker in tone to its predecessors (at the risk of edging into 'emo' territory), and takes place on the Earth-like planet of Eos. Players take control of Noctis, a deposed prince who's looking to defeat the forces that invaded his kingdom. Of course, you'll meet several companions to travel and battle alongside, in a combat system that - like recent games in the series - can be described as 'semi real-time'.
It's a fresh start for Final Fantasy, and it'll be interesting to see if it's more down-to-earth tone can reel in a new audience. It's enough to intrigue even a western RPG purist like me...
