14 Most Insane Video Game Dream Sequences

7. Catherine

Just about all of Catherine takes place in the guilt-ridden nightmares of our main character. After cheating on his girlfriend, protagonist Vincent finds himself suffering from surreal dreams that serve as the game's puzzle sequences.

Imbued into these puzzles are remnants of half-remembered nightmarish enemies and notable locations from your real life. As manifestations of his own guilt and doubt, Vincent finds himself facing off against repulsive bosses projected by his fractured psyche, such as a particularly traumatising giant chainsaw-wielding baby.

As the dreams become weirder and weirder, eventually intruding in your day to day reality, the barriers between the game's dream world and Vincent's relationship with the regular world become more and more muddled, making for the perfect surrealist video game experience.
