3. Pokémon GO
What Works?
For a time, Pokemon GO turned the world around us into a veritable Poké-paradise. Barely any soul under the sun wasn't lamenting the repeated sightings of Rattatas as they hunted for an uber-rare Blastoise, and though the game itself was a supremely basic 'flick to catch' setup, it didn't matter.
This was Pokemon as we remembered it growing up, fulfilling a fourth wall-breaking ambition that meant YOU could be a Pokémon trainer too. Even a year later, Niantic have maintained a steady fanbase, added all the Gen 2 Pokémon, and restored the Tracking feature that initially caused so many to abandon it last year.
What Doesn't?
Well, though it's been put back in a way that functions better than ever, chances are you'll remember when Niantic removed the necessary Tracking menu from the game, thereby breaking the loop of acquiring Pokémon.
Speaking to Pokemon GO's state as it was until an update a few months ago, for almost a year we had no way of knowing where Pokemon actually were, or how to find them. It was this removed feature that stopped what would've otherwise been the most popular mobile game of all time, and remains a truly moronic decision on the part of the developers.
