4. Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

Although the Assassin's Creed series hit rock-bottom after the broken and boring Unity, the title that followed it, Syndicate, was actually a rather impressive return to form for the franchise.

Taking players to Victorian England, Syndicate gave players some of the more memorable main characters in the series, letting you switch between siblings Jacob and Evie Frye as they attempted to stage a revolution on the streets of London.

Getting the most out of its setting, the game had you teaming up with Charles Dickens, chasing down Spring-Heeled Jack and even transporting you forward in time to take on assignments from Winston Churchill during the Second World War.

Unfortunately though when it released back in 2015 nobody really wanted to hear about Assassin's Creed after the disaster of the previous game, and Syndicate barely registered as a blip on the radar in a year that also saw Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid V hit shelves.
