14 Most Underrated Open-World Games Of The Last 10 Years

1. Dying Light

Building on the surprisingly solid foundation of Dead Island, Dying Light's focus on parkour and a neat day/night survival mechanic made zombies actually cool again.

Instead of just throwing you into a world of the walking dead and calling it quits, the developers of Dying Light instead put an emphasis on, weirdly enough, making resource gathering scary. Because you have to run to a safehouse if you're caught in the open when the sun goes down (thanks to some particularly aggressive and terrifying zombies that only come out at night), there's a risk/reward factor to everything you do in the game.

Veering too far out into new territory is not only dangerous because of the undead hordes waiting for you, but the constant threat of losing all the progress you've made adds an element of suspense to your travels.

Also the game's DLC ramps things up even more, acting a great standalone experience in its own right, making for one of the most complete zombie experiences in years.
