Resident Evil 7 was for much of its runtime a stealth game; new protagonist Ethan was hunted by the various members of the Baker family throughout their sprawling bayou estate.

However, Jack Baker stole the show.

Jack proudly boasted that he was invincible and even injured himself to prove those claims, returning from the dead time after time, no matter how grievous the injury.

Jack stalks you throughout several sections of the game and while you can fight him, it’s not recommended: you’ll waste huge amounts of ammunition only to down him for a pitifully short time before he gets up and shakes off those shotgun blasts like they were nothing.

It’s much better to hide in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to creep around Jack.

RE7’s best boss fights also included Jack, particularly the first two, which assure you the game’s more serious tone is only a paper-thin façade. When Jack brings his custom chainsaw-scissor weapon to the table in the second fight, we realise Resident Evil is still as bonkers as ever.
