14 Simple Things That Could Ruin The Biggest Upcoming Video Games
4. There's Not Enough Content - Skull & Bones
Ubisoft's Skull & Bones has been relentlessly - and justifiably - compared to the sea-fearing portions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and to some, it feels like Ubisoft is cynically trying to wring every last penny out of that acclaimed mode.
And almost two years removed from its E3 reveal, it still feels like we don't have a clear picture of how much content will be available at launch.
Ubisoft has stated that the game does have a story mode, but that it's woven directly into the multiplayer - a wishy-washy statement which appears to suggest a narrative tied into the now-expected "live service" gaming model. Hmm.
Though Ubisoft has plenty of experience with this type of game, it's tough to imagine that a pirate warfare actioner will have the same crunchy combat and general staying power of, say, another live service title like The Division 2.
Don't be remotely surprised if it's another case of a developer being overly reliant on "emergent gameplay" experiences, with repetitive missions and a lack of a compelling narrative quickly causing the player-base to drop off.
