14. A Disappointing Launch Roster - Mortal Kombat 11

The first entry into the Mortal Kombat franchise in four years finally hits stores next month, and as excited as fans undeniably are, it's also hard to ignore some justifiable anxiety regard the size and content of the game's day-one roster.

Granted, the full roster hasn't been officially revealed yet, though leaks indicate a fairly slender 25 fighters will be available at launch.

While many of the expected staples have been confirmed - Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Baraka, Kano and Johnny Cage - a number of fan favourites such as Smoke, Reptile, Ermac and Rain are nowhere to be seen.

This is quite obviously because NetherRealm will be portioning out many of the missing fighters via DLC packs, which is an unfortunate trend throughout the fighting game genre these days.

Don't be surprised if critics and especially fans rip MK11 to shreds for its piecemeal launch content, no matter how slickly, gloriously violent the core gameplay might be.
