Another one for the spin-off pile, X-Men 2's tie-in game was a far more comic-focussed affair, rather than aping the events of the film itself. Certain characters transferred across, but for the most part, Vicarious Visions brought in Mark Hamill (of all people) to voice Logan, and set about giving you the tools to dispatch entire fleets of goons at once.
Featuring a unique group-killing mechanic, you could pull off all manner of special attacks depending on where you were standing in relation to foes, resulting in up to four enemies being diced in a blur of claws and bodyslams. Honestly, it was a little patchy in that 'B-tier video game' sort of way tons of titles were back then, but remainedenjoyable all the same.
X-Men Origins: Wolverineproved that a hybrid of overblown action and film tie-in content can work a treat - and that Wolverine is just a badass character to embody, no matter what - laying the groundwork for any futuregame to fill the gap.
After all, with Hugh Jackman slowly stepping away from the role on the big screen, why not get one more gamewith him heading up the marketing materials?
