14 Ways E3 2018 Will Impact The Future Of Gaming
9. Game Streaming
Probably one of the most interesting and least discussed aspects of E3 is gaming's take on Netflix. Having a streaming service for games is a big step forwards and frankly would change the way, if it took off gaming works. Think of how Netflix changed movies.
Games and movies are incredibly different. Movies are relatively cheap whilst games are comparatively expensive, and getting a steady stream of new releases to be a part of a streaming service is going to cost the consumer a fair bit. In terms of a back-catalogue of older games, the system would work exceptionally.
Another problem arises from the fact that it appears each company is going to push its own service. Which means we'll have segregated games which could ultimately ruin the service. When a player has to purchase multiple subscriptions just to play the games they want, they may end up just buying the games themselves to save themselves the hassle.
However, if it works it'll be something truly great.
