14 Worst Video Game Boss Battles Of The Decade (So Far)

1. Clayface - Batman: Arkham City

How the hell do you mess up giving Batman a kitana?! Aside from Mr. Freeze's showdown (also in Arkham City), Rocksteady just can't seem to deliver on the hype when it comes to big final boss fights. Arkham Asylum had the laughably roided-up Titan Joker, and following the revelation that one of the Jokers you'd been talking to was actually Clayface, you were stuck in yet another 'Batman vs. a hulking brute' mould for a very boring final fight. Dodging and leaping in abundance, Clayface's brawl followed in the footsteps of Asylum's Bane beforehand, but it was after this when you finally get your hands on Ra's al Ghul's kitana, that the potential to deliver one of the best final moments in gaming was truly scuppered. Rather than task you to deflect multiple projectiles, a string of attacks with expert timing or wield the weapon with any sense of skill, the combat system is exactly the same; you whizz through the clay-made goons surrounding you, and mash an attack button to beat the leader himself. That's it. In the end, we got a phenomenal reveal followed by a boss that was way too repetitious, and just as there was a glimmer of hope refracting off the side of that blade, it was snatched away far too soon.
