15 Batman Arkham Series Elements That Would Make Future Films Great
10. Minor Villain One-Shot Sequences
One of the advantages of featuring Batman in a game as opposed to a film is the opportunity to feature an extensive number of members of his rogues gallery in supporting roles. A film is constrained by a two hour run time and can only feature a maximum of two adversaries if it wants to allow for any form of character development. As a result of this, the Dark Knight has faced only a handful of adversaries on film, some on multiple occasions.
The James Bond series of films has always featured a pre-credits sequence between five and twenty minutes long that re-introduces the character in spectacular fashion, either setting up the plot to follow or simply demonstrating his abilities through a captivating action sequence. A Batman film could take inspiration from this formula by dedicating the first ten minutes of film to witnessing the Caped Crusader square off against some of his secondary adversaries in action sequences akin to some of the ones seen in the Arkham trilogy.
Such sequences could pit Batman against Firefly on the scene of a deadly arson or Deacon Blackfire against the backdrop of a cult sacrifice. They could also feature the likes of Hush, the surgeon who transforms his own face into a replica of Bruce Wayne's to pursue revenge against his childhood friend, or Calendar Man, the holiday-obsessed killer who has been portrayed as a deranged psychopath in the Arkham series, in contrast to his usual semi-joke character status.
