The modern-day story - for the most part - was a bit naff, never really going anywhere and generally piddling around in the kiddie pool, too afraid of the deeper waters of actual compelling action. Content to stay in the same place, only really pushing the boundaries enough to justify continuing to storyline, Desmond was the definition of naff. And then he went and stabbed his girlfriend.

In a shock twist that no one really expected, the modern-day story suddenly got interesting. After acquiring the Apple of Eden, Desmond is suddenly unable to control himself as he kills his potential love-interest, Lucy Stillman. An incredibly ballsy move, it was brave for a story that wasn’t going anywhere to suddenly get interesting in such a dramatic way.

It quickly became one of the more interesting points in the modern-day narrative. The event is developed even more as it is revealed that she was in-fact as double-double agent who was planning to betray the Assassin’s as she had once done to the Templars. Not to mention that it left the game on a fantastic cliff-hanger, becoming a true highlight of the modern-day timeline.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
