A rare instance of a video game adaptation of a movie that doesn't suck, GoldenEye 007 isn't just a decent licensed video game, but in fact on its own merits one of the best console FPS games ever made. The first mission in the game follows the opening of the movie, as Bond takes control of a dam before performing the iconic dive from the top of it. The level is a simple but fun introduction to the game's core mechanics: shoot guards, take their weapons (the sniper rifle is especially awesome), rinse and repeat. The controls may have been a tad troublesome, but the visuals were ground-breaking at the time, and who can forget the fantastic soundtrack? Once you neutralise the base's alarms and shoot your way through the remainder of the base, you're able to jump off the edge of the dam, complete with a cut-scene reflecting the same scene from the movie. It may seem rough around the edges now, but GoldenEye was absolutely revolutionary at the time of its release, and this marvelous opening level helped redefine the possibilities of video games based on movies.
