15 Best RPGs Of The Decade
5. Final Fantasy XV
There are many who would argue that the fifteen entry in the long running Final Fantasy series has lost its way. They'll cry it's far removed from its origins, but then... have you played any of them pre-FFVII recently? It's fair to say that the earliest ones haven't aged well.
So when FFXV launched in 2016, after many delays and name changes in development, it was greeted with a strong reception that fans accepted Square Enix's willingness to change.
Granted, not everything hit the mark. Having to purchase/watch a separately launched movie to fully understand the story and world was a bit of an insult, but for the most part the game had a lot going for it.
For one, it was a beautiful world to explore, as you guide Noctis and his friends across the continent to his arranged bride. Of course, things don't go as planned as sinister forces aim to interrupt, but it wouldn't be a Final Fantasy without these elements, would it?
It was different, sure, but for better or worse, it cemented the series as one that's always shown it'll take risks.
