15 Best Video Games Of 2020 (So Far)

At various points over the years, it really didn't look like Media Molecule were going to pull this together.

A game that doubles as a piece of educational software, purpose-built to teach you how every video game is made, AND let you build anything from scratch? It's arguably the most ambitious title of the generation, but thanks to a control scheme that's a minor miracle, Dreams does live up to its mission statement.

With a brilliant story mode centred on sparking the very creative flare necessary to make you dive into its customisation options, you can also lose hours "Dreamsurfing"; seeing what the world comes up with when given the keys to the gaming kingdom.

All creations can then be broken down, their artists, coders and composers' work laid bare for all to see.

There are more eye-widening, "Ohhh, so THAT's how it's done!" moments of game design realisation here than a thousand documentaries, and the fact MM made the whole journey thoroughly inviting and engaging should be celebrated.

Think of any game, then go see how it was put together. I guarantee you'll come away with a greater appreciation for gaming as an artform than ever before.
