6. Alan Wake

So hands up, who's been waiting on baited breath since 2010 for an Alan Wake sequel? Admittedly, only a few of you might have done that, but given the nature of game's die hard fanbase that's arisen since the title's release, there's definitely a hardcore following of players waiting anxiously for closure to Remedy's atmospheric original game. Taking heavy influence from Twin Peaks and Stephen King, Alan Wake's moody gameplay and television structure felt utterly unique compared to every other new release coming out at the time. Although it didn't burn as bright as Microsoft had hoped, Remedy's third person shooter developed a dedicated cult following that remains strong to this day. While the developers are currently hard at work on their next game, Quantum Break, there's always hope that one day they'll be able to return to the nightmarish hellscape they realised so well in 2010.
