15 Biggest Video Game Lies You've Been Told This Decade

There's embellishing and over-exaggerating, and then there's the absolute maelstrom of miss-marketed faeces that was the run-up and release of Mass Effect 3.

The outcry was so bad, so OTT and so unprecedented, it first, got EA labelled Worst Company in the World by Consumerist (thanks to fan poll) and second, caused possibly the biggest investigation on behalf of any fanbase, to highlight every last lie that was told.

Here are just some choice highlights, taken from key Bioware personnel, all pre-launch:

“There are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t say any more than that…” - Mike Gamble
“I’m always leery of saying there are 'optimal' endings, because I think one of the things we do try to do is make different endings that are optimal for different people “ - Mac Walters
“You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless of how we did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to provide some answers to these people.” - Mike Gamble

Never before had quite so much outrage been quite so justified.
