15 Brutally Difficult Video Games That Totally Broke You

1. Ghosts N' Goblins (1985)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l01gYF6QQc0 The bane of the gaming community's existence, this arcade and NES classic will have you throwing the entire contents of your house out the window in frustration. For some reason Arthur's (the playable character) armor is made up of feathers and puppy hair because just one hit and your armour literally flies off your body and you're then stuck running around in your underwear, one more hit and you're dead. It's that simple. With undead ghosts and goblins (what else would be down there?) coming up from the ground or dropping down from the sky anywhere at anytime, it's close to impossible to avoid being hit from seven different directions at once, due in part to the jumping mechanics that don't allow you to move once you've leaped. All this essentially means Arthur just sails to wherever he wants, and you can't do a thing about it. It was also one of the first games to incorporate fall damage, meaning if you jumped from a great height you could die when you hit the bottom. Then, just to add insult to injury, once you finish the game it tells you that it was just some kind of dream or illusion, and you have to restart the game and finish it again on a harder difficulty to unlock the real ending. What video game made you turn off and quit for good? Let us know in the comments!

I've loved all things sport since I was old enough to know what sport was and am a big fan of terrible jokes. I get into some Gaming in my spare time and writing articles about the things I love to watch and play.
