15 Fan Demands For The Fable Reboot

12. Interesting Magic

Fable 4 world
Lionhead

One of the strengths of the first Fable game and its semi-expansion, The Lost Chapters, was the list of spells available to the player. Among RPG staples like Fireball and Lightning, players found some much more interesting effects.

Berserk not only added to the power of melee attacks, but took the Hero beyond their maximum Physical morph, leaving them a grunting monstrous hulk-like being. Multi-arrow loaded a bow with several shots, all of which would be fired in different arcs but home in on the target. Assassin Rush would hurl the Hero at their opponent, teleporting them behind at the last moment for an opportune strike. Willpower abilities like these helped create some unique characters, and also made the world itself seem that little bit more magical.

Sadly, many of the non-damaging spells were lost by the time of the next game, and Fable III finished the job by removing anything that wasn't a direct damage dealer. Playground Games need to look at the original game and bring back some of those unique spells, letting Will players create interesting characters rather than the same attack based spell-slingers.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
