15 Fan Demands For The Fable Reboot

13. More Realistic Morphing

Fable 4 world
Lionhead

As characters in Fable got stronger, the Hero's muscles would grow, and they'd become taller like the archers of legend as they became a better shot. But these character morphs weren't just tied to the character's stats.

Beating San Andreas to market by a month and a half, Fable was the first game that allowed a character to get fat if they ate fattening foods. Murdering innocents would make the character grow horns and get glowing red eyes to show how evil they were, while doing good deeds would eventually make a halo evident. It's best thought of as what those listening to this story around a campfire many years later are imagining of the person based on their actions.

Fable wouldn't be Fable without morphing, but I'm hoping that the new technology will allow them to be a bit more subtle with the alignment-based morphs. Let muscles grow when swinging weapons and skin go sallow from eating bad foods or being cruel, but nobody should be growing horns.

At least, not in the main gameplay. Taking an idea from the Fable box art, perhaps have reflections in water and mirrors show the more outlandish devilish and angelic morphs.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
