14. Wider Appeal
One of the ways in which video games have changed the most is in how much more widely accepted it is. Where as they used to be seen as a hobby only fit for nerds or geeks, they have now been around long enough that most people play them in some form. Those who played them as kids are now adults with kids of their own, and will pass down their passion for video games to their children. The new generation and generations to come will be gamers, and this is great because it creates a commonality between us. Video games are also no longer one gender specific, as
nearly half of the gaming population is comprised of women. And thanks to Nintendos focus on the casual with the Wii, people of all ages and demographics can game together. Basically everyone is a gamer these days, and while most may not be into the more hardcore of titles, the fact that we can spend time playing video games with those who previously had no interest in them is a reason to love modern gaming.
