3. Booker DeWitt Bioshock Infinite
In a nice change for the series, not only did the 2K team decide to go with a starkly different city for the setting of their latest Bioshock game, but also a hugely different protagonist. Booker was a good hero as he seemed to be more of a genuine character, with more of a background, personality and an actual voice compared to the heroes of the previous two games. Booker always created the sense from the very beginning of the game that he had a troubled and interesting backstory, getting involved with the wrong people and doing dangerous jobs like saving Elizabeth from Columbia to pay off his debts. But some of Booker's words of wisdom also made him an interesting and awesome character, since they often justified some of his occasionally dubious actions. A particularly famous one is his justification for killing so many people, 'If you don't draw first, you don't get to draw at all.' Not only was he himself an awesome character for many of his controversial mantras, but it also made for an interesting relationship with Elizabeth who had led an incredibly sheltered life until meeting Booker with the occasional conflict between the two of them regarding Booker's methods making for an interesting addition to the story. Combined with Bioshock's existing formula of awesome action and plasmid/vigour powers, having an actual character with a more human presence was a nice change of pace for the series, which is probably why Booker is regarded as many people's favourite of the Bioshock heroes.
High Point For This Character: Many of his awesome but grim philosophies are what most people will remember Booker for, but many of Booker's highlights from the game also come from being an absolute powerhouse with his Skyhook and Vigour powers (like previous Bioshock protagonists) but applying them to a much more human and real feeling character.
