15 Greatest Gaming Heroes Of The Last Generation

4. Ezio Auditore da Firenze €“ Assassin's Creed 2/Brotherhood/Revelations

Ezio After Altair came Ezio, probably everyone's favourite assassin from the series due to his charisma, enhanced abilities, equipment and the general better quality of his story. Ezio made possible the double hidden blade and was almost solely responsible for resurrecting the assassin order in Renaissance Italy €“ granted, this wasn't the main reason everyone liked him so much, but it was still a great experience to accompany Ezio on his journey to becoming a Master Assassin. There were numerous reasons everyone liked Ezio's games the most, in particular his friendship with Da Vinci, the Tower Defence style modes from Revelations and the complete revamping of the series' storytelling style and mission structure. But still, apart from this, the reason everyone liked him so much was that he seemed like more of a human being than his predecessor Altair. Whereas Altair was grim and stoic, Ezio was much more charming and charismatic, having relationships and seeming to be generally more relatable. You don't get to have the majority of games in a series by being a lame protagonist after all. Not only this but he enhanced the awesome things we liked about Altair as well, particularly his abilities and equipment. It was just better all round really, and it was a shame Connor Kenway couldn't carry on this progression. High Point For This Character: His friendship with Leonardo Da Vinci made possible the complete remastering of the Assassin's Creed canon, creating the opportunity for two hidden blades instead of one, assassinating from haystacks and dropping down from a ledge to take out two enemies at once. All of it was awesome, frankly.
