15 Greatest Late-Generation PlayStation 2 Games

14. Shin Megami Tensei - Persona 4

Sticking with the high-school aesthetic but injecting a hefty dose of fantasy and macabre visuals, the Persona franchise is the only one that's able to tussle with the behemoths of the genre and come out unscathed. Re-released on the PSP Vita as the 'Golden' edition, Sony are yet to really get behind this with the must-needed gusto fans know it justly deserves. In another link to Bully, Persona tells the tale of a new kid on the block - played by yourself - who this time falls into a group of friends just as a serial killer is wracking up a body count around town. It proves to be just the launching point into a parallel universe of sorts that sees you and your new friends journeying into a world made up of their own darkest secrets and fears - the combatting of which you'll do with the titular Persona creatures. If you're a fan of JRPGs like older turn-based Final Fantasys or 3DS heavyweight Bravely Default you'll be right at home here, and as the story itself is a roller coaster ride of plot-twist-chicanes and thematic highs and lows, the characters within keep everything chugging along at a perfect pace as you attempt to solve what's happening in the intertwined universes around you.
