5. 'Have I Been Here Before?' (Batman: Arkham Asylum)
Spending a night alone in the infamous Arkham Asylum isn't a great idea - especially when the Joker has taken control and released just about every inmate. Still, Batman's a tough guy; he can handle it, right? For the most part, Arkham Asylum is about directing Batman's fist into the faces of villainous goons. However, Rocksteady weren't afraid to show the World's Greatest Detective at his weakest too. After all, Batman has fears just like everybody else - according to the classic Year One, those fears drove him to become a bat. Who better to manipulate and showcase those fears than the Scarecrow? The Scarecrow scenes in Arkham Asylum are all phenomenally well done but it's the second one that shows us the weaknesses of Bruce Wayne best. The first sign of trouble is when you move into a previously visited corridor and the game tells you you've just entered 'Wayne Manor' - huh? Then, you turn the corner and the hallway seems to stretch infinitely and as Batman travels down, it slowly morphs into Crime Alley on a very specific night. Even Bruce himself (perhaps to show just how powerless he feels at that precise moment) is morphed into a child again as he comes across the dead bodies of his parents once more. As we hear the various voices of the police officers and Jim Gordon comment (some quite scathing) on Bruce's situation, we watch helplessly as he crumbles to pieces. It's an incredibly moving and surprising scene - kudos to Rocksteady for reminding us that Batman is human.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
