15 Greatest Steam Video Games Of The 2000s

10. Penumbra: Black Plague - 23rd January, 2009

Frictional Games is one of the masters of the horror game genre, especially on Steam. The creators of the Amnesia series (The Dark Descent and A Machine for Pigs) and their newest creation SOMA in fact had their first breakthrough in 2009 with Penumbra: Overture. A great first-person horror game, although a little rough around the edges, it was filled with a deep story and a good lot of scares. However, it was the sequel, Black Plague, which really took Penumbra to the next level. With an even richer narrative and some of the scariest moments in games. Tense doesn€™t begin to describe how players feel during Black Plague. If you loved Amnesia or really any survival horrors, then Penumbra has to be the next game you go to. What the critics say: Gamespot: 8/10 IGN: 7.7/10 Steam User Reviews: Overwhelmingly Positive (96% Positive) Metacritic: 8/10

Fred hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here. Maybe. It might be over there. We're not really sure.
