Plucked from relative obscurity as a character and general ethos Naughty Dog were just starting to experiment with, he became an overnight sensation; a supremely fun hero to embody, watch in motion and delight in seeing him bound around every level.

His theme became indicative of that; a scrappy console with a lot to offer and prove; the underdog that showed disc-based media was the way the world was going. Like Crash, PlayStation would charge ahead with a reckless abandon, establishing a platform that'll still put a smile on your face.
