4. Shining Force III

This game was genuinely one of the best offerings on the Sega Saturn, but tragically came out at a time when the platform was already in its dying days. Its predecessors weren't much good, so people were surprised to find that Shining Force 3 was a solid JRPG that maybe, just maybe, could've been the console's answer to Final Fantasy... If it wasn't for those horrid, horrid voices.

A hero in these games doesn't have to necessarily sound particularly tough or macho, but at the very least they should sound confident and determined. Noon sounds like none of these things, with a mincing, disinterested voice that makes you grateful for the option to switch it off. It's almost as if Sega knew how bad it really was...
