15 'Horror' Video Games That Totally Failed To Scare Anyone

2. The Slender Series

Both The Arrival and The Five Pages are fairly obnoxious, essentially forcing players to wander around a bland environment and collect a scraps of paper. Why? Do the pages reveal critical information about Slender Man himself, his weaknesses or his motivations? Nope. In fact, in the very first game in the Slender series, the pages were just vague drawings with almost no relation to Slender himself; they were just a thing to do, because they couldn€™t think of anything else.

It€™s not like Slender isn€™t an interesting concept, even if he has been slowly turned into a meme over the years. He€™s a big scary man who hangs out in the woods and blends into trees, and also might abduct children from time to time.

There€™s plenty you can do with that premise; it€™s got buckets of potential. Unfortunately, all we got was a halfhearted attempt to cash in on the Slender name, twice, and we deserved so much more.
