15 'Horror' Video Games That Totally Failed To Scare Anyone
11. Amnesia: Machine For Pigs
With its medieval setting, claustrophobic environments and engaging story, Amnesia: The Dark Descent has slowly cultivated a fairly substantial following since its release back in 2010. As a result, a sequel quickly followed suit entitled A Machine for Pigs, developed by The Chinese Room (the guys and girls behind Dear Esther and Everybodys Gone to the Rapture) and released three years after the original.
Unlike the developers other games, it wasnt a walking simulator, but it did strip away several of the first games most prevalent features, including the sanity metre, which means you can now spend as much time as you want hiding in complete darkness, staring monsters directly in the eyes without having to deal with any of the consequences.
Besides that, the setting isnt nearly as memorable as the first games, and the story is fairly predictable in comparison as well. Worst of all: instead of being savagely murdered when caught by baddies, youre locked away in a prison cell elsewhere in the city, so death isnt really an issue.
