15 Iconic Video Games That Almost Turned Out Completely Different

3. Halo Was A Mac-Exclusive Real-Time Strategy

The second most well known entry on here next to the Resi 4/DMC debacle, Bungie's first take on their own Halo mythology was to construct an RTS that would have you systematically advancing up the field, one section at a time. It's a design ethos that Halo Wars would eventually return to 2009, but it's pretty crazy to think that the world's premiere look at Halo was at MacWorld 1999, before it then lost the exclusivity rights and appeared in third-person at E3 2000 - finally becoming the Xbox's launch title in 2001 with another viewpoint switch. Look out for the brilliant moment in the below video, where in the original RTS version it looked like you could get the Covenant to surrender before overthrowing their base and planting your own custom flag. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eZ2yvWl9nQ
