Ubisoft first conceptualised it an RTS, assumedly letting you run Third Echelon from an armchair both in real life and in-game, only to then get the camera on the ground for a more shooter-heavy experience, but finally it was Ubisoft Montreal who revolutionised the whole thing by taking a page out of Metal Gear's book and going down the stealth route.
