15 Impossible Steam Gaming Achievements Nobody Unlocked

3. Rome II: Total War - This Is Total War!

Achieved by 0.6% of players The campaigns in Total War games are usually a mix of diplomacy, resource management and military might, rather than the all-out no-holds-barred conflicts that you'd expect from a series with such a name. However, the "This is Total War" achievement in Rome II forces you to go full Gerard Butler and kick any semblance of diplomacy into the pit. It requires you to win a Rome II campaign having declared war on each faction in the same turn you meet them, and never negotiating a peace treaty. While this sounds appealing in a primal kind of way, the reality is that you'll be plagued by financial difficulties as you try to maintain an army that will often be fighting on two or more fronts simultaneously. Then there is the simple matter of making sure that you're at war with every single faction you've meet for each of the few hundred turns that a campaign lasts for. For example, if your army discovers an enemy faction while it's auto-moving, then the game moves onto the next turn and you'll miss out on the achievement. If you overlook these things, then you could quite possibly spend hours playing through the rest of the campaign without realising that you've already failed to meet the requirements to win this stamp of honour.
